Meet Dr. McCarty

                                                                                 .

Dr. McCarty is in his 35th year of practice as a dentist, however he started working in the dental field forty years ago.  He is in his 20th year of being limited to the treatment of non-surgical TMJ disorders, Orofacial Pain, and Dental Sleep Medicine. There are very few providers across the country who have a limited practice in this field.  He was Board certified by the American Board of Craniofacial Pain in 2007 and the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine in 2013.  He has been involved in all aspects of the TMD field serving as President of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain from 2014-2016 and again from 2020-2022. He served as the president of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain (ABCP) from 2020-2022 and continues as a board member and examiner. The ABCP is one of two credentialling boards in the field of Orofacial Pain. For ten years he taught in the AACP's Craniofacial Pain Mini-residency program primarily on the topics of common craniofacial pain disorders, myofascial pain, craniofacial pain injection techniques, and the use of electrotherapy modalities.  Through 2021 he continued to teach craniofacial pain injection courses for the AACP. He works closely as needed with TMJ surgeons, physical therapist, chiropractors, neurologist, ENTs, and sleep doctors as many times a multi-provider approach can be needed.  Outside of the office he is busy with his family including wife and four grown kids: a daughter who is a Biola University graduate, married, and living in Portland; a son that is married, a graduate of West Texas A&M, working on his CFP & MBA and working at UMHB; a son who is a Senior finance major at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor (UMHB); a daughter who is currently in Nashville working on a music career.   Dr. McCarty grew up in Weatherford Texas, graduated from Abilene Christian University and Baylor College of Dentistry, which is now part of the Texas A&M system in Dallas.  He has a Christian faith and attempts to speak truthfully to each patient and treat them to the best of his ability regardless of their background.
